These are the basic 10 rights granted all defendants accused of criminal charges. They have also been extended to all governmental administrative hearings.


Right to be informed of the charges against.
Right to receive a written copy of these charges.
Right to present own witnesses
Right to remain silent
Right to confront witnesses testifying against
Right to have a public trial
Right to have a jury trial
Right to have a speedy trial
Right to be represented by an attorney
Right to not be tried twice for the same offense (" double jeopardy").
